Mircea Dinca is the W. M. Keck Professor of Energy in the Department of Chemistry at MIT, with research interests rooted in synthetic materials chemistry, with a current focus on porous materials for energy and catalysis applications. Having received a BA degree in Chemistry from Princeton University and PhD from University of California Berkeley, Dinca was a postdoctoral associate at MIT prior to starting his independent career at the same institution. For his development of new synthetic routes to microporous materials with redox-active centers and charge transport capabilities, Dinca was awarded NSF’s Alan T. Waterman Award in 2015 and the ACS Award in Pure Chemistry in 2018, among others.
